Description of the tour
Paraty, up until the end of the seventeenth century was the port destination of the Caminho de Ouro (Gold Road) used to send gold and diamonds to Portugal. The town then became the second most important port in Brazil before declining rapidly after more direct routes were created in 1710. The city was finally re-discovered in 1970 when a road linking Rio and Sao Paulo directly was built, thus explaining its remarkable state of preservation. The streets of Paraty are paved with irregular cobblestones and lined with charming multicolored homes and boutiques.
Ilha Grande is a big island covered by the Atlantic tropical forest with more than 100 beaches. You will enjoy crossing the forest by walk to reach one of the multiple beaches or to go there by a taxi boat before returning to the main village Abrãoa where restaurants are offering an assortment of delicious Brazilian dishes.
We organize your entire stay in Paraty, Ilha Grande or both (as the two places are located on the Costa Verde), including transport, hotel, boat trip to explore the Bay of Paraty and its islands. You will have the opportunity to swim in turquoise blue water, sunbathe, or simply relax. We recommend a minimum of two days if you choose only one destination or a minimum of three days for both.
