To get to Niteroi you must either go over the longest bridge in Brazil (13 km) or take a boat. Niteroi is reminiscent of cities in the French Riviera, with beaches, shady squares, restaurants and bars. Together with Brasilia, Niteroi is the most representative city of the work of renowned architect Oscar Niemeyer. It is famous for his “flying saucer” Museum of Contemporary Art. From there the view of Rio at a distance is dazzling. Contrasting the modern architecture of Niemeyer Niteroi also offers antique churches and fortresses that can be visited by appointment only.
